Project Steps.

Step 1. Cut, Sand, and Paint Wood Pieces

  • Cut scrap wood down to 5 1/4" long, 3 1/2" wide.
  • Lightly sand wood pieces.
  • Paint wood pieces with color of your choice. I used white acrylic paint.

Step 2. Glue Pieces Together.

  • After the paint has dried apply hot glue and press the pieces together to create your book stack. Make sure the wood is aligned evenly at the front.

Step 3. Distress Paint. (Optional)

  • For a more rustic look lightly sand your books to remove paint in some areas.

Step 4. Apply Saying

  • I used my Cricut Air 2 to print out "Merry Christmas" but you can hand write or use other stickers to create your wording.

Step 5. Apply Sealant. (Optional)

  • Seal your book stack with Mod Podge or some other type of sealer to protect it.

Step 6. Apply Embellishments. (Optional)

  • Add embellishments that match your decor. I used a simple piece of twine, wrapped it around the stack a couple of times and then tied a bow at the top.
