Christmas Tree Sign | Christmas Wood Sign | Wood and Vinyl Sign

In today's video, I will show you how I created this custom order wood sign for Christmas.  It actually turned out better than expected and my customer was amazed.

Project Steps

• I used a piece of wood I had already stained. But you will need to stain the wood with actual stain or some type of antiquing wax.

•  

  Once the stain is dry apply 2 layers of white chalk paint. And let it dry for at least 24 hours.

• After the paint has dried for at least 24 hours you will want to sand the wood to give it a good distressed look. Make sure to sand the sides also.

• After sanding your wood will have fine particles on it. I use rubbing alcohol and a paper towel to remove.

• I measured from side to side and top to bottom to find the center of my wood. I used a pencil and made a small mark so I could make sure I was applying the vinyl centered.

• After finding the center I started applying the vinyl. I applied the truck first making sure I centered it on the pencil mark. I then began layering the other pieces around the truck.

• Ok, so if you have been following me for a while you already know what I do with all my wood and vinyl projects. I iron them.

•  

  This helps the vinyl melt into all the creaks and crannies of the wood and gives your piece more of a hand painted look.

• When I finish a project I always seal it with Mod Podge. Depending on the piece I will use matte or gloss.  Simply apply a thin layer and let it dry.

• You can use picture hooks but I decided to go with nautical rope. I used hot glue and E6000 to attach the rope to the back of the sign.
